When it comes to finding the perfect place to call home, factors like safety, quality education, a thriving economy and a strong sense of community are key. In a recent article published by Fortune magazine, Peachtree Corners, Georgia, has been named as one of the 50 Best Places to Live for Families. The City of Peachtree Corners offers unique elements such as technology stringing from Curiosity Lab, as well as various city projects that improve the daily lives of citizens and businesses. This recognition reflects the city’s commitment to providing an exceptional environment for both residents and visitors, but what makes our city so unique in this mission is how Peachtree Corners leverages Curiosity Lab for resident benefit.
Curiosity Lab is a huge piece of the puzzle when it comes to the quality of life in Peachtree Corners. Curiosity Lab’s smart city ecosystem allows companies to test, implement and deploy the latest technologies, making the lives of residents and visitors even better! With all the activity Curiosity Lab brings to Peachtree Corners through companies testing new technologies and holding events at the lab, Curiosity Lab also serves as a successful economic development initiative for the city that continues to grow each year for the benefit of Peachtree Corners citizens.
Some of the technologies tested in Curiosity Lab’s smart city ecosystem are so successful, the city deploys these for everyday resident use. The goal of these technologies is to improve the everyday lives of residents while making our city more efficient. Two of our most recent technology deployment help with parking management and work to protect pedestrians along Technology Park. Check out the solutions below:
The City of Peachtree Corners boasts a unique solution to manage Town Center parking. Through a partnership with T-Mobile, Cradlepoint and Bosch, advanced technology is deployed within the parking lots to identify when parking spaces are at maximum capacity. Utilizing Cradlepoint’s high-speed connectivity through T-Mobile’s 5G, Bosch cameras efficiently monitor Town Center parking spaces and package this information to be shared with the public. Peachtree Corners residents can access this information through the ‘Choose PTC’ app, alerting residents if they will need to divert to overflow parking during events or busy periods. Not only does this improve parking systems for residents and visitors, but it also allows for additional information to be provided to the local police department, increasing the overall safety of Peachtree Corners.
Adding to the array of technologies that are deployed to make Peachtree Corners residents’ everyday lives safer are the Bosch object detection cameras working together with Commsignia’s C-V2X solutions. As one of the largest companies in the world to focus solely on C-V2X, Commsignia produces some of the finest technology in their field. Bosch object detection cameras are deployed on a major intersection along Technology Parkway. These cameras can identify when an ‘object’ is entering the crosswalk. Using edge computing, the camera processes this information and sends a signal to Commsignia’s C-V2X unit. This unit then broadcasts this warning message to approaching vehicles 150 yards prior to the intersection. This proactive warning system helps improve awareness among drivers, giving them ample time to slow down and exercise caution, ultimately contributing to an overall safer pedestrian crossing experience.
As we continue to leverage the latest technologies to improve citizen safety, city efficiency and daily traffic functions, Peachtree Corners, Georgia has earned its place among Fortune magazine’s top 50 places to live for families in the United States. Our team is excited to continue inspiring other cities around the globe to implement the latest technologies for a brighter future for all.
