Electrify PTC took place in the Peachtree Corners Town Center on September 23
This past weekend the City of Peachtree Corners and the Curiosity Lab hosted its first-ever electrified car show – Electrify PTC – in celebration of National Drive Electric Week. More than 300 people from our community came out to the Peachtree Corners Town Center to attend the event and learn more about how the City of Peachtree Corners is creating the smart city of the future.
City of PTC Highlights Support of EV Community
The morning kicked off with remarks by Georgia Public Services Commissioner Tim Echols and Brian Johnson, City Manager of Peachtree Corners, who highlighted some of the ways in which the City of Peachtree Corners is supporting the EV movement, including:
- Electrifying Peachtree Corners Community Charging Program: a comprehensive Community Charging Program that includes unique deals, charging providers, and resources for residents of the city.
- Curiosity Lab: a city owned and operated living laboratory designed specifically as a proving ground for emerging technology that enables innovative mobility solutions, like autonomous shuttles, to test on a 5G-enabled 3-mile lane.
- Autonomous Shuttle Route: City of Peachtree Corners partnered with Beep, Inc., Florida-based autonomous shuttle provider, to implement a 7-stop autonomous shuttle route where the city’s infrastructure can communicate with the shuttles, testing vehicle to vehicle communications, as well as operating autonomously safely on public roads.
Residents and Visitors Head to Town Center to Enjoy an Electrified Morning
Event attendees perused aisles of the CMX CineBistro parking lot to grab an up-close look at a wide arrange of electric vehicles shown proudly by local owners. The event showcased more than 30 locally-owned vehicles, with much excitement around an EV-converted DeLorean, Rivian trucks with attached camping trailers, and the all-new Ford F-150 Lightning.
A wide array of businesses, dealerships and vendors were also in attendance, including Ford Hennessey, Siemens, Clean Cities GA, Jim Ellis, Swincar, Qwik Charge, John Ellis, Georgia Power, Tiger Ceramic, T-Mobile, Mercedes RBM Atlanta and Karma Atlanta. Attendees were able to view the latest in their EV lineups, as well as speak directly with their representatives about how electrification is changing the way people move through their communities and beyond.
National Drive Electric Week Celebrates 12th Anniversary
Electrify PTC served as a kick-off event to celebrate the 12th annual National Drive Electric Week, which is celebrated this year between September 23 and October 3.
The weeklong celebration aims to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and plays a major role in educating local communities about electric vehicles through events, like Electrify PTC, that allow people to learn from EV dealerships and owners directly.
