September Update: Showcasing Innovation, Preparing for Barcelona and Building What’s Next

Visitors from ITS Atlanta 2025

As we move into fall, Curiosity Lab continues to build momentum – from welcoming global transportation leaders last month to preparing for our return to one of the world’s biggest smart city events. Take a look at what we’ve been up to and what’s ahead this season at Peachtree Corners’ living lab for innovation.

Tech Takes Center Stage at ITS World Congress

Visitors from ITS Atlanta 2025

In late August, Curiosity Lab and the City of Peachtree Corners hosted more than 200 attendees from ITS World Congress 2025 for two days of immersive Tech Tours. These global leaders in transportation and smart city solutions had the opportunity to experience real-world deployments currently active in our city, from autonomous shuttles and real-time data dashboards to intelligent traffic systems and emergency vehicle prioritization powered by C-V2X.

Attendees also explored our expanded Innovation Campus, learned from our ecosystem partners and saw firsthand how public-private collaboration is driving connected infrastructure and smarter city planning. A big thank you to our technology partners and the ITS World Congress organizers for helping bring the global conversation on intelligent mobility to Peachtree Corners!

Next Stop: Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona

We’re heading back to Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona this November, and we’re bringing some of our partners along for the ride. As global leaders gather to explore urban transformation, Curiosity Lab will showcase how real-world smart city deployment is changing and adapting to new technology every day.

You can find us at Gran Via, Hall 2, Stand 15, where we’ll be joined by some of the most innovative companies in our ecosystem:

  • Digi
  • The Black Arcs
  • Cyber 2.0
  • PavePal
  • La Vitre
  • T-Mobile
  • And more!

We’re proud to highlight these partners and their work within our 5G-enabled smart city environment. If you’ll be at the show, stop by our booth to learn how we’re building and testing the future of mobility, safety, sustainability and connectivity in the real world.

Last year, we had the opportunity to host the first ever SCEWC Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge alongside our partners, NTXIA and Texas cities Frisco and McKinney. The competition was a massive success and awarded winner Visioncraft.ai with the opportunity to travel to the United States and meet with key smart city leaders and set up a pilot in our city!

We’re excited to be hosting the second annual Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge where, similar to last year’s competition, five selected finalists will compete to win piloting and funding opportunities in the United States on Wednesday, November 5. Hosted alongside, North Texas Innovation Alliance, Plug and Play and Texas cities, McKinney and Frisco, the 2025 Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge is focusing on problem statements across the future of transportation, public safety, connectivity, and infrastructure. Key focuses for the competition are:

  • Transportation including but not limited to: autonomous delivery, people movers, VRUs, and AI-powered smart parking.
  • Public Safety including but not limited to: crowd management, facility safety and security, emergency response, and predictive analytics.
  • Connectivity including but not limited to: 5G/6G, supply chain infrastructure and IIoT, noise and vibration monitors and IIoT, and resilient networks.
  • Smart Infrastructure including but not limited to: predictive analytics for infrastructure maintenance, resource conservation and technology to manage AI and data center growth, sustainable infrastructure and building technologies, and smart buildings including ports, campuses, venues, and airports.

Stay tuned for more details on our five finalists!

Building the Future at Curiosity Lab

Pavilion at the Innovation Center

If you’ve been by Curiosity Lab recently, you’ve probably noticed that construction is continuing to move forward – and new pieces of our expanded Innovation Campus are coming to life.

The central courtyard between 147 and 145 Technology Parkway was completed just in time for the ITS Tech Tours and is now open and walkable! Inside, renovations continue at both buildings. The new lobby inside 147 Technology Parkway is nearly complete, offering a more welcoming and modern entrance to our flagship facility. Progress is also being made throughout the interior of the new building at 145, with upgrades beginning to take shape as we prepare for expanded capabilities and shared workspaces.

We’re excited about the transformation ahead, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we continue to grow our smart city innovation campus.

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, thank you to our partners, members and community for helping shape the future at Curiosity Lab!
