The team at Curiosity Lab is keeping the momentum going strong as we start 2025. Just a week after the New Year, the team packed their bags to attend CES 2025, the most powerful technology event in the world, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. While at CES, the team had specific goals in mind: recruiting new startups and partners, meeting with existing ecosystem members and supporting our current partners throughout the conference.

CES unites the brightest tech minds and pioneers and showcases the world’s leading technologies for attendees to see. This conference usually sets the tone for technology trends we will see across industries throughout the year. This year, there were an estimated 4,500+ exhibitors, over 141K attendees and over 6k media members throughout the show.

The Curiosity Lab team had an incredibly packed schedule, with over 50 meetings in three days with startup recruits, ecosystem members, existing partners, potential partners and key startup events. The team was thrilled to see and meet with ecosystem members across May Mobility, La French Tech and Business France, EcoMotion, Dell for Startups and so much more.

In addition, the team attended key networking events and exhibits where we were able to support ecosystem members. One of the major events included COVESA, the Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance. This organization works to foster collaboration in the automotive industry to advance connected vehicle technologies and standards for a sustainable future.  While at this event, the team continued to explore new connected vehicle technologies across roadway safety, EV charging, ITS system integration technologies and more.

One additional event of note was the conference’s first Startup World Cup CES Las Vegas Regional Competition hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures with a prize of $500k. This global pitching event series is considered the number one startup competition in the world, with an investment prize of $1 Million. Curiosity Lab ecosystem member, Dell for Startups, played a major part in supporting this pitch event. This year’s winner was SolCold, an Israeli startup with groundbreaking cooling coating technologies that require no energy input. Curiosity Lab is also in discussions with SolCold to deploy its technology in our smart city ecosystem.

From the number of meetings and technology events the team attended, there were a few key themes from CES 2025 that Curiosity Lab saw as trends for the year. This of course included AI & robotics, with multiple exhibits showcasing how the two can be used together across entertainment, marketing, as a helper in day-to-day life and more. Automotive also had a heavy presence at this year’s event, with major exits from key players in the industry across Garmin, Caterpillar, Oshkosh another other major OEMs. Caterpillar even showcased a teleoperated construction vehicle attendees could operate with oversight from a Caterpillar team member. Finally, health and beauty technologies also seemed to be another major sector of technologies seen at the conference. As the lab builds out our new 25,000-square-foot Innovation Center, the team is hopeful to start integrating some health and fitness technologies to be tested and deployed in our environment.
